Comprehensive Concussion Care for Student-Athletes

A concussion can affect much more than an athlete’s ability to play sports—it can also impact concentration, memory, sleep, mood, and school performance. Early evaluation and appropriate follow-up are important to help students recover safely and avoid returning to activity too soon.

Our concussion care program supports students before and after an injury. We partner with area schools to provide ImPACT baseline testing, which measures areas such as memory, attention, processing speed, and reaction time. If a concussion occurs, baseline results may provide valuable information to assist with the student’s evaluation and recovery plan.

Following an injury, our nurse practitioner specializing in post-concussion care provides individualized assessment, treatment, and ongoing follow-up. We guide students through a gradual return-to-learn and return-to-play process based on their symptoms and progress—not a one-size-fits-all timeline.

We also work directly with parents and local schools to recommend temporary academic accommodations, such as reduced screen time, rest breaks, shortened assignments, or modified testing. Our goal is to help each student return to the classroom and athletics as safely and efficiently as possible—without placing them at unnecessary risk for prolonged symptoms or another injury.
